not quite what i'm lookin for.. need a more.. umm.. "professional" card.. being as your in the industry i didn't know if you knew of anything that might work.. that's oh.. sitting on a shelf somewhere..
component in or vga in.. linux drivers are a plus..
i know a few things more expensive but probably not supported by Linux
http://www.adstech.com/check for the Pyro external boxes you connect the box to your source in components and the box to the pc with firewire
some supports hdtv 1080i with a plug in
same kind of boxes could be found with the Dazzle brand
the next step is stuff like matrox digisuite and they cost several thousand $$$
on a different way of doing it there is a FTA satellite receiver called the Dreambox , which with the right firmware can fully open dishnetwork for free, it`s a pvr and its linux based, you could record on the internal hd and remove the movies with your pc connected on the dreambox ethernet port I`m not sure right now if the dreambox fully support hdtv
another way is to buy one of the satellite pci tuner cards , most of them support hdtv with the software MyTheater , and of course with the right patch will also fully open dishnetwork
at home I'm currently running a FTA receiver called Fortec Lifetime Ultra with a dishnetwork patch it's a basic model doesn't support HD but sat is back
