Drivetrain problems again
« on: April 03, 2006, 03:52:06 AM »

I have the I4 five speed.  And though they are great transmissions, I'm having some issues.  This isn't really a question just more of a rant.  I've pulled my trans off about ten times.  And I'll be doing it again this week.  It has a HARD time going into first and third.  Feels like something is really fighting me.  I've changed the throw-out bearing a bunch of times, and I've had to change the flywheel twice.  It's getting really annoying.  So hopefully whatever it is isn't too expensive.  I have a Spec stage 3 and since I put it in I haven't had a lot of luck with it.  So if it's a clutch problem I'm changing brands.  Maybe even get a custom job.  I hate not being rich.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

I've had problems of eating up throwout bearings, and some power issues since the new clutch.  There's always been some chatter going on with it too.  I haven't driven it really since I noticed the problem.  I don't think it's a synchro because it was shifting SUPER smooth and then the next day it shifted like crap.  I only pulled out of my driveway, pushed it into first and drove a bit, went into second no problem, and got to a stop sign and first was still really rough so I just put it in second and drove home.  We'll see what the deal is soon.  I have a Stealth R/T in my garage taking up most of the room, I pull my car in but not enough room to work on it.  So as soon as I finish parting the Stealth out I'll put my car up and see what's going on.  I'll probably get to it tomorrow or Wednesday.

LOL  awesome.

The brakes look amazing.  I didn't get a chance to work on my car at all, because I was working on a damn 96 VW Jetta until 530am.  Started at midnight.  And it still isn't done (need to get a fuel rail.)

Rears are done.  I talked Silverblur into getting off work early and letting me hijack his garage.  Will post final pics later

$275 plus shipping for the pads and rotors, so it was $307
then about... $40 for new hardware and bolts and stuff but I am returning most of the caliper bolts cause I didn't use them.
so about $350 total
