What in the F now??
« on: March 24, 2006, 10:44:24 PM »

Today out of nowhere I found that when I turn right there's a vibration in the steering wheel. When I'm on the brakes and turning right it tugs at the wheel in the opposite direction.  Had the recalled ball joint replaced when I bought it. If it's that again I swear i'm gonna flip out Angry

My first Avenger was nearly trouble-free but this one has seen so many service bays they should have a lift just for me Embarrassed

And I can't afford to get a new car and don't really want to get rid of it. But at the same time, how much more am I gonna put into a 96' with 100k on the clock before I'm spending more than its worth Huh

Ok so this turned into more of a rant than a question LOL. I'll be fine. I swear. *sigh*

You should start doing all the work yourself.  It's WAAAAY cheaper.  And if it's doing it when you're going around the corner and on your brakes, I'd check the brake caliper.  Maybe one of them is sticking.  Is it only when you turn, only when you turn and brake, or both.

Maybe wheel bearing, but you should hear some noise.  If you feel up to a long trip you can bring it up to my garage next weekend (this one I'm going to HIN) I'll take a look at it and help you get it up and running.

Also speaking HIN (thread hijack in progress) after it's over, my group and I are going to be partying at the Super 8 in GermanTown if you're interested in stopping by.

Yeah, forgot to mention that it also might be a sticky caliper.  I took it round last night to try and get it to do it again. It wouldn't do anything weird until I was pulling back into my neighborhood. There's no noises or squeaks. The wheel just shakes. Next time it starts happening I'll try turning while coasting, accelerating, and braking to see if that makes any difference.

Tom and Ray of car talk agree with you. someone else had the similar problem, but they had noise with it.

Finally had the chance to jack up the car today. Yep, there's play in the bearings.

She goes back under the knife sometime next week.

Actually... nevermind, just keep fixing the Venge. I want full driver time.
