Seriously Annoying Problem!
« on: March 23, 2006, 05:44:02 PM »

Newbie from Canada here with a huge question.. I have a 95 avenger 2.0 5spd that has had alot of money put into the motor for repairs. Since i have had the car i have noticed after driving for about 10- 20 minutes my car seems to misfire through the gears usually around 3000 rpm. Would love to find out whats wrong with it but it is not throughing a check engine light/code. Need this fixed. I have replaced coil pack, plugs, plug wires.

thanx,
Regan

Possibly the fuel filter.  I would get it changed and see if that helps if you are getting spark everywhere.

So... wait.    My avenger says its misfiring, but runs GREAT.    Yours tells you nothing, but you say you feel it missing?

How does that work?  Find someone with a FULL SIZE code reader the one that will show your TPS sensor o2 sensors, e.t.c. voltages.

Good Luck.

Fuel or Spark problems.  If it's doing it only after running for a while, it's probably your plug or wires.  I'd change those out since they're cheap.  If that doesn't do it, I'd check your injectors.  Do you have any idea which cylinder is misfiring?  I'd check all that stuff, AND the fuel filter like Nykon says.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

my eclipse did the same thing. (damn that car had alot of problems.....kinda good thing it blew...R.I.P. Eclipse Cry ) take your boots off the plugs and make sure the plugs are tight. i may sound dumb, but thats what was wrong the eclipse. (didn't find that out til i bought new plugs...)

The first thing to check if the car is mis-firing is the plugs.  You replaced them, but did you by chance put Bosch plugs in it?

If so, next time you want to spend money on plugs just throw $20 out the car window on the highway and save yourself the hassle of popping the hood.  If that doesn't help, Bosch plugs probably won't either.

Just a heads up... they're notorious for cracking!

Where are you in Canada?  If those ideas don't fix it, there are always wrench weekends in the GTA and Kitchener/Waterloo areas where we have lots of people that can trouble shoot or lend a hand in getting things installed.
