brake Failure...
« on: November 18, 2005, 05:41:05 AM »

o i got done with work to day and was on my way to get some grub and there is a red light so hit the breaks nothing for like the first 2 secounds so i pumped them then just slamed down. wasn't till i was in the middle of the intersection that i finaly stoped Shocked

this has never happend before, i was thinking the break fluid might me low but they worked fine the rest of the way.

And another thing strange is that the ebrake light came on, the ebrake light came on yesterday to when i was warming up the car. So could this be a cold weather thing?

O and i have stock drums in the rear w/ gsx calipers and brembo slotted rotors in the front

doing that later today, but you don't think it would have any thing to do with the rotors or the metal master pads do you?

And i still can't figure out why the ebrake light came on then and the night before

It might also be possible the the rears need to be adjusted. If the rear pads are too thin, it could cause this problem too.

Good luck....

gotch. So this lite is for the whole brake system not just the ebrake.
I would imagine also it is time to change the rear drums/pads.

And tomorrow i will check the fluid level.

as for changing the drums is it hard, i have only worked on disks?

its slightly more complicated but not difficult. just do one side at a time so if you forget how it goes together you can look at the other side for a reminder. some rear drums are kinda confusing. i've never seen what rear drums on our cars look like. i have 4 wheel disk on both my cars

thanks, i was debating swaping the drums for disks, but i am not really sure if it would be worth it. Plus i have not been able to find a a/s around with the break system still on it Angry

If you do you can upgrade to a rear sway. The car will brake AND handle better.
