Anybody know what it takes for a mitsubishi console swap? I've seen a few avengers with the swap, and kinda like it, but dont know how hard it is to do... anybody know?
i have one it looks really good but im missing the plastic piece that go's under the boot to hold it up make sure u get that they are hard to find trust me lol and if u do find one let me know
The Shift plate, yes. This is a pain to install because of the OVERDRIVE BUTTON. You need to open the shifter from the back, then cut the wires and re-attach them after the plate install is complete. That is what I did for mine, if anybody knows an easier way, chime in.

i rewired my o/d to an aftermarket switch and got an after market auto shifter. its kinda cheap and looks a lot better than the stock shifter. only down fall is that you have to get used to the shorter shifter but the radio is mutch easier to cantrol(if you dont have a remote)
The conversion is not very hard at all to do. I did mine in less than 30 minutes. I had to scrounge through 3 wrecked Eclipses at the boneyard to find everything I needed but it was worth it. I was really lucky that one of them was a 5 speed and I was able to get the leather boot and plastic trim that holds the boot in place.
All you need from the Mitsubishi Eclipse or Eagle Talon are the side skirts, console itself, armrest lid, ashtray/cup holder, radio bracket (which is two separate metal pieces left & right side), radio trim bezel (part that covers your radio and climate controls), and the black pocket that fits underneath the radio to fill in the gap. If you cant find a black pocket, your local audio shop should have one to fit it.
Keep in mind that nothing on the Eclipse console is interchangable with an Avenger console except for the cigarette lighter.
And dont forget to install your radio before installing the console or you will be pulling the console back out to put the radio in first.
The Eclipse console is a lot more theft deterrent than the Avenger console. It will sure take some muscle to get the radio out unless they know exactly what they are doing.
I would recommend the console swap to anyone that is up to it.
