Replacement Lock Cylinders?
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:52:02 PM »

The lock cylinders in my doors & trunk seized up on me so I cant use the keys to open them.  Its a good thing I have keyless entry on my alarm so I can get in.  My question is can I get replacement lock cylinders already coded to my original keys?  I think the key pattern is listed with the VIN number.   I dont want to get all new ones & have 2 or 3 keys just to get in the car plus my ignition is still good & dont want to replace that.

I dont know how mechanically inclined you are but you might be able to move the little pieces that code the lock to your new one in exactly the same slots. Or take to an independant little locksmith shop and have them do it before you install them. Shouldnt be that much. Key pattern is tied to VIN because i needed a new master key today and dealer pulled by VIN (take your title or registration with you).
