Help upgrading my car!
« on: March 09, 2006, 09:59:22 PM »

Hi Everyone

I have a 1996 Dodge Avenger V6 2.5 Stock.
The only thing I have to install on it it’s a Secret Weapon WR intake and brembo disks. I have a friend that’s going to help me to upgrade my car. I want to buy the Exile Ignition Kit but also a fuel pump and regulator. I am also putting headers and 2.50 Exhaust System with flowmaster muffler. That’s all I want to do. But I don’t know what Fuel Pump and Fuel Pressure Regulator is better for me. I'm not planning putting a turbo or nitro. I just want to go simple. I want to have a FPR that I can adjust it so I can Use more fuel when I want to race and less fuel when I want to save fuel. Maybe in a future I will install new injectors and "MAYBE" pistons I don’t know if I am being stupid doing this but this is why I am here. What FPR will help me best. The Universal Bypass Regulator? Thank you very much for your help

For "EASY" upgrade.  Do the 3.0 swap.  Save your money for that.  I'm an I4 guy, but I'm sure there's a few on here that have done the swap.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

if what I planning is a bad idea please tell me so!. I dont want to make a big mistake. I can't make the 3.0 swap because I live in Puerto Rico and here theres no place that do the 3.0 swap. I think theres like 6 avengers in this island because Dodge never sell them here.

I'm not a big help for doing up the 2.5 hopefully one of the other members will be able to help you.  I'd send my questions to ExileRacing and have them give you some pointers.

You should PM Downer, he's pretty good with the V6s.

I dont know much, but I' m also modding my V6 sebring. I got the aem intake, catback and muffler. I will be doing a 3.5L swap. I wont do headers....since with a 3.5 L upgrade that wont do me any good. So you can go ahead and do the headers too. These are relatively simple. Downpipe and ignition upgrades arent a bad idea.
