Not sure where to start,recently started dirt track racing 96 sebring,1/4 milr track. Im trying to either have the tranny locked in manual mode where it will only shift when the stick is moved. weve only raced twice,3rd first time,2nd second time.If we leave it in drive it goes threw the gears to fast or not gearing down fast enough.also if you pull it into first and go over a certain speed it auto shifts anyway al the way up.we tried unplugging connectors to tranny that kept us in limp modde i think,but we could nt get enough threw straightaways.Havent done any mods on it or even changed fluids yet.Any help would be greatly appreciated,as i will be going to get car in pa soon to start working on it.we are supposed to be strictly stock but ,,by the way motor is v6,,,,,,
additionally yall gonna kill me when i stripped it all went in dump except airbags was in good condition

i'm not sure there is much you can do about it. the tranny is electronically controlled so the tcm will force it to upshift once you rev high enough..besides limp mod. i guess you could try the autostick mod to help downshifting. but the tcm will not let you downshift if it is revving above a certain limit. i'm not sure how well it would work on a dirt track. only thing i would suggest is a tranny cooler. these things are notoriously weak under hard use.
