QUESTION: Is an engine/trans swap possible? 97' in a 95'
« on: March 02, 2006, 04:17:14 AM »

Hey folks, I'm of course having trouble with my 95' Avenger ES trans running in 'limp mode'.   Today I was at the salvage yard and saw a 97 ES smacked in the back with less than 100K on the motor and trans.  I was wondering if it is possible to swap the whole motor and trans out?  Will things hook up and if not can I augment them without a lot of difficulty?  I read where some put the 97 trans on a 95 mtr and some worked and some didn't.  Would the whole swap make it easier or harder?

Thanks

Transmission has a different  mounting pad in the back and different  harrness for the
prindle switch... Get your tranny fixed or ck out.. If your trans pan isnt full of metal
and clutch materials,, you my try going to Chrysler (NOT AUTO ZONE) and purchase
a new input and output sensor..Roger Reynolds -Hannibal transmission and roadrage 604
quick change gears...
