Battery Termnals getting real hot

I was haveing a battery chargeing issue with the alternator so I replaced it after having Auto Zone check it.  During that time the Battery Termnals were getting hot.  Well this has been about a month ago. Well noticed steam/smoke from under my hood and found out that the Battery termnals/wires are getting hot again.  Could it be something else than a new alternator or could it be the wires from the alternator to the battery.

Would like some help on this one

The battery might be shorting itself out inside.  I had that happen on a neighbors car.  They didn't have smoking terminals, but they kept going through alternators.  The battery would start the car, so I didn't think to check it.  My mechanic said that it could be a internal short, and that it could cause the battery to be extremely hot.  Try changing out the battery.
