Q's after install of tranny cooler/temp gauge
« on: February 03, 2006, 03:49:11 AM »

ok i had some quick q's. Any way i installed the cooler along with a temp gauge and after looking at the pics (in a howto post) i noticed mine was hooked up diff then in the pics pics(basically every thing was the same but the top line off of the stock cooler was going to the right instead of the left)

so i hooked it up like the pics showed and all seems to be good so hopefully when the lines were switch that wouldn't do no harm

after driving it for some time at 45mph the temp was around 90, after driving on the highway at 80 the temp went up to 130. Then after getting off of the highway and some more cruzin it went up to 150 and stayed around there while i was cruzin at around 30-35mph.(around a half hour of driving)

any way my q's are...

-when it was hooked up wrong could this have damaged the trans?
-i am surprised the temp did not get up to 180 (i assume that is normal operating temp) Did i hook the gauge sender in the wrong spot? (the sender is connected to the right side of the trans, see pic)

this is how i hooked it up (paint shop skillage )

no, no damage could really result from that. Your temp reading sound good, and it should hit higher temps in the summer.. Just make sure your fluid goes from tranny, to stock cooler, to auxilary cooler, and then back to tranny, not the other way around. My sender is tapped right after the out port of he tranny, you dont want to hook it up after the coolers, because all that shows you is what the cooled fluid going in to the tranny is.
