Just the usual wear, luckily if you go with a 5 speed you don't have to worry much about the tranny!  And as long as the kid didn't run big boost or NO2 the engine will be fine!  Look for oil leaks and all the normal stuff.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

But because it's a manual, check the fluid. I'm guilty as the next guy for forgetting about it. You'll be happier with the manual.  Smiley

I have an I4 5-speed and I used to beat the crap out of it and shift it without the clutch, do numerous burnouts, and just about every other thing you could think of but I still got it and it runs fune.

Ok so there is a dipstick to check it on the 5-speed?

my sentra makes you pull a little plug on the upper front of the tranny and put fluid in it, if it spits back out, its full.     lol

Nope no stick.  Like your Sentra.  On the driver's side, behind the tire (take the tire off, unless you have a lift) there is a little rubber plug, pull it our and if you see fluid it's good, otherwise, I just add until it starts to spill out. Then put the plug in and you're good to go!

K its a 96 i4 5spd 132K miles needs new valve cover gasket, seems like it needs a new clutch or engine/tranny mount? if you stab the gas pedal you can feel a weird vibration on left side, is that clutch?  also it idles at like 1,500 rpms any common solutions?  need to get this thing running good as it still has to pass DEQ

not bad for $1,600?

THANKS!!!

To check the clutch, go about 35 MPH and slam the gas to the floor, if your RPMs take off and you don't, you need a new clutch.  If it's not shaking too much it's probably just a regular shake.  Mine does it.  If you replace the mounts that wouldn't be bad, but it also might not make much of a difference.  Unless you get the polyurethane

As for the high idle, that could be a few different things.  Are there any CEL (Check Engine Light) codes?

Hmmm, I might bid on it.  Anyone in that area willing to rip some stuff off of it for me?  If you can store it I just found out a friend of mine works for a national shipping company that can pick up stuff and bring it back to his place for like 50 bucks!  Anyone interested in helping me out??

Nevermind dude, I'm an idiot, I posted in the wrong area!

And as for the vibration, if you read my post previous to my "bidding post" did you try the clutch test?

don't want to floor it until I figure out if the engine or tranny mounts are ok, but I gave it well over 1/2 throttle on the test drive, approaching 3/4 throttle? clutch grabs fine.

I don't know how bad the shake is, but these fours are light and will shake pretty easily.  Try giving it a bit more and see if it goes fine, and a little more and so on.  You can take a look at the mounts and makes sure they are tightly bolted down.  But if the bushings in the mount are bad you'll just have to replace them.  That link I put in earlier will take you to a site that sells mounts for a pretty good price.
