also keep in mind that the auto shut-off at most gas stations won't fill it all the way. don't top it off, its not good for alot of reasons.

Wow. I never knew a light even emitted and i've driven it pretty close to the end.

well having extra room in your gas tank allows for the fuel to expand. if the vehicle has an evaporative emmisions system and you top it of too much, it sucks gasoline into the charcoal canister, which ruins it, if you don't care about emmisons, its not as big of a deal, i guess. its just still doesnt accomplish anything, its about 30 miles more you can go before you need to fill up again.

lol. i've never seen anything like that article before. On some levels i can see it as being true, but on others, it just sounds like [to qoute Eric Cartman] "tree hugging hippy crap".  Cheesy Cheesy

Having room in your gas tank is also what allows them to explode. A friend of mine almost totaled his mustang. After the crash scene investigators looked everything over, they let him know that had he not just filled up [he was at 3/4 of a tank], there is a very good possibility that his car could have exploded due to all the vapor [what's actually ignited] the tank would have held.
