Yes you can. But you can only take fuel away with any kinda of piggy on these cars.

So, does that mean you could get better gas mileage with one of these? If so, how much better, i.e. would it be worth the investment?

You might get a little bit, but would be pretty hard to save enough to pay for the unit and a way to watch the fuel trims.

You have that backwards. You can take away fuel, but you can not add fuel. If you add fuel, you will cause a CEL to come on for high map sensor voltage.

No you can't add fuel, once the computer sees 5 volts from the map sensor it throws a CEL. Once that happens it totally disregards the map sensor voltage.

sorry sroufe7 you were right you cant add fuel after the map sensor reads 5 volts i see what your saying now. it will only add fuel at an idle or low load until the map sensor sees 5 volts so you were right my bad

ok, when i MAP goes above 5 volts you get a CEL... what can you do to keep it from going so high?

you can add fuel.. put in bigger injectors and trim the map down so it runs right.. The question is why. I don't know if the v6 operates the same way, but messing with the map on the 4cyl also screws with timing which is why we don't use them in boosted applications. On the v6.. you could probably stand to lean it out quite a bit.. Personally i'd get the SAFCII and a J&S safeguard to handle the ignition timing.. http://www.jandssafeguard.com/safeguard.html

Unless you have a lot of mods you will never had to add fuel with one of these cars.
If you want to add fuel, either run a return fuel system and put in an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and bump up the fuel pressure or put in larger fuel injectors.
Only piggy back system out right now that you can add fuel with and not get a CEL is the AEM F/IC.
The other way is to run a standalone system.
Question of the day is:
How are you guys monitoring your a/f AND fuel trims to know if you need to add or take away fuel?

using a wideband still doesn't really tell you what the computer is doing.
You need to use an obd scanner to show long and short term fuel trims.
