Grin not really, got ur attention tho. Tongue

you can see my FAS switch to the left of the vents, and the start switch to the right of the vents...yes that otherwise useless "button to the right of the vents has been put to use. Push it in and I got a started engine!  Smiley
The fas switch kills the engine. I've been doing this for a while now and so far I've been getting 50.xxmiles per gallon highway and about 40-45 city, sometimes in the fifties, my highest is 56.8 miles per gallon for a single trip....(in city driving)

Yesterdays gas mileage as a total:

total cost of my driving so far:

total miles driven on the tank:

estimated miles remaining at this current pace:

total tank average:

How are you guys handling the gas business? I look at it as a finite resource so low prices are in the past..I still have  alot of fun driving trying to beat my last record, plus I buy gas once a month ( that's as often as it gets...I bought gas on sunday (8/18) Last time I bought gas before that was 7/14. last tank was 528 miles with about 5% highway driving.

lol. As long as you know how to manage your finances properly, there's no need for a FAS or Hypermiling.  Wink

However, bravo on the FAS location.

Bro, I have to say...you're completely lost  Tongue.

That is a Forced Auto Stop. Usually if I'm coming up to a red light that I know will be red for a while, or if I'm climbing down a really long grade that's not necessarily steep, I will shift to N, hit that switch, deactivates the injectors and I lose POWER steering and have power brake for three strokes, I hardly ever brake so that's more than plenty.

I flick the switch back after a few seconds to reactivate the injectors, by that time the engine is dead. When I need to accelerate, hit the start switch and I'm back in action.

Hypermiling isnt just about managing your finances, there's a lot more than the surface and what you hear from AAA and majority of people who don't. Shiano, here's a challenge, visit www.cleanmpg.com and just "lurk" if you want or whatever, but just see what it is about, I'll let you know that it's not just about managing your finances as people on that forum are of extremely high caliber, intelligent, along with Joe schmo and everything in between. Its something bigger than me  and you, and also...if you drive a lot, you could pocket a LOT more of that money that you spend on gas, maybe get that manual transmission swap and s/c setup. From the outside looking in, it's a completely different situation.

Also, this is just my car, there are a wide range of cars including hybrids...imagine a '96 civic getting over 80 miles/gallon.

HA!, LOT more than a gas meter my friend Wink this is how I know exactly what's going on with my car. The only thing I havent been able to get is air/fuel ratio...I should be able to code that in soon though.

Those are some nice numbers.   I have never done that good before.  So how do you like the ScanGaugeII?  I'm thinking about getting one.

The SGII is great and completely worth every penny. Customer service from Linear Logic backs their product, but if you're thinking of getting one, make sure you request two cables as you have a mitsu V6. they didnt follow protocol and will cause a malfunction in your speedometer. the cable with all the pins is the one you will use. That's the one that works for me...I should actually double check tomorrow to be sure, but I'm 99% sure.
