ABS and DTC Light Reset
« on: July 31, 2008, 04:47:01 PM »

Hi everyone:

I have just gotten myself a sebring. I finished doing the tune up and now did the brakes. When I got the car the ABS light was on. Is there any way I can proceed to reset/diag the ABS Light? Is there a way I can tell ABS unit is bad perhaps.

Also, I seem to have lost my OBDII code reader, so wondering what is the best/safe way to reset the DTC light?

Thanks.

Just wanted to mention the battery was unplugged for atleast 2-3 hours while I was doing the valve cover gaskets/spark plugs/thermostat on my 97 Sebring V6. I had thought that the ABS light would reset along with Check Engine through this but did'nt.

Any ideas?

When was the last time the brakes were changed? Any good brake shop can reset it for you. The OBDII scanner should have come with instructions or at least online support.

Thanks Shiano. I don't know when the brakes were don last frankly.

I don't want to pay the shops to reset my light...i will drive it like that. Just thought may be there is a hack. ABS is definately work as my brake test proved before I changed the rotors and pads.

I know how to use the OBDII unit inside out...the problem is that i can't find it now. On my bmw I could connect a sequence of pins on the obdII connector and it would reset the check engine ligth. So i thought there might be a hack for this that someone may have used.

ASEClub.net

Careful not everyone over there is willing to listen to new people with out yelling about how new your are and how you should search before you ask a question.

It's the sister site to ASOG it split from ASOG YEARS ago.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP
