Well here is the thing, i had power mirror in my 97 avenger, and they worked fine, but one day, i noticed that when i was pressing the switch to adjust the driver side mirroor, it wasnt working properly, and its as if i had to really presst the switch hard to make the switch work and adjust the mirror. it was like that for a few months, until one day, i pressed the mirror switch too hard, and the whole switch feel inside{behind/inside} the wall. since then, i never really bothered on to fix it, however, after almost half a year, i said to myself i have to fix it and get used switch and see why it is not work. I got 2 switches both from members on asec and asog, and i connectd it to its plug, however, it is still not working, and it is really buggining me. I did this last year, and since the again, i just said fornicate it and ignored it, but now the bug got back into me again, and i have to fix this thing. I dont know why the sudden urge, but maybe its because i cleaned the whole car from inside out, washed the carpets with plenty of car soap, and even installed the new 6x9's pioneer ones in the back, and i feel like i need to finish everything. any suggestions
have you checked your wiring first? you know this question is always going to be asked. lol
Check it at the switch, then at the relay/fuse.
when you say by wirint? you mean the part where it connects in the back of the switch? if so, then it looks fine to me, i havent seen any ripped wires or anything like that. I am thinking it might be the relay/fuse, but i dont know where those are located... any suggestions?

i think he means get a multi-meter and check to make sure the wires are still good from source to ground.
'The wiring' means all of it. But yes, get a multimeter and test first the connector where it plugs into the back of the switch. If it's dead, follow the wire to where it makes its next connection. Check it. If that one is good, then you know the problem is between that connection and the switch's connector. It's like finding a clog in a pipe. section it off and check each section. that way you don't end up needlessly replacing things. unless of course, it will just be easier [and less time consuming] to replace the harness and all the wires associated with it. Just mark them so that you know what wire goes where when you install the new harness and such.
yeah, but, would it really do that with THREE switches [his, the one from here, and the one from ASEC]? What are the chances that they are all that bad?
Plus you know checking the wiring won't hurt anything. lol
The mirror can manual adjust to .. Tell you the truth, if my electric mirrors didnt work it wouldn't bother me .. I havent touched my mirrors since I bought the car a year and a half ago. but I guess everyone has their certain bugs.

lol. used yeah. but still you know? If the switches were working when they were sold, and he hasn't been playing in the sandbox, lol, at least one of the two he got should still be working. right?
I agree, those switches are a pain. I am having the same problem with my eclipse. A new switch from the dealer is only like $30 I think if you can't clean up the old one and make it work.
If you would like I get employee cost at the dealer, I can get you a new switch and ship it to you for the price of the switch and shipping of course.
Those switches are infamous for getting dirty ... disassemble and clean the contacts then reassemble
I believe i disassembled them before and cleaned them, but it still didnt work. I will try it agian. by the way, can i use this as a multi meter and check the wiring in the connector?

exactly, to think about it - you are right about that.
And how he had to press harder and harder to get it to work... Sounds like a switch problem.
hmm, you have a point about that Daes, but then again, i only had to press harder and harder to get it work only with the first switch, not the other 2 switches that i got later on. not to mention those 2 switches didnt work after i tried both of them, so no matter how hard i pressed, it wouldnt help. i think it is the wiring or the reply/fuse.
