« on: June 20, 2008, 07:45:51 PM »

well my car still is stalling and not running right

things i've replaced
distro
cap/rotor
plugs wires
CPS
tps
iac

I have a fuel filter but, i havn't put it in. Today i started it too move it into the garage, started first time, pulled it in it sat for a minute or two, wasn't warmed up or anything and just died. no sputtering or nothing.

Any ideas? I have 300 to work with right now and that's it. I'm about to sell this car and use that 300 to get a beater or something?

Damn.  I don't keep tabs on everyones problems, so refresh my memory did you already check fuel pressure.  If the pump is going out, the fuel will build up in the line, and allow the car to run for a bit, but then lose all pressure.

I'm not sure on the sixes if they have a pressure relieve valve or not.  But it looks live a tire valve on your fuel rail.  Press it down, and fuel will spray out, if it doesn't your fuel pressure is gone.  If it does spray out, start your car and check it again.  If it still sprays then your fuel pressure is good.

And do it while you're engine is cold to avoid a fire.   Smiley

you can also get proper fuel pressure testers. you don't get gas on yourself and you don't risk fire.

ok an extremly basic way to test your fuel system, find where the fuel line unhooks(anywhere from gas tank to fuel rail, before/after fuel filter is ussually a good place) and hook a rubber hose on it, and put the other end of the rubber hose in a milk jug.

try to start car, watch milk jug, if its steady and has good flow= good fuel pump, sputtery or barely pumps= bad fuel pump

if the fuel pump is good it should fill the jug pretty quickly, so keep an eye on it.

Ok, the one line off the fuel filter, is crimped and messed up so either i did it or it was like that, couldn't tell. But anyone know what part numbers they are?

it's the one that comes off the side with the bracket or whatever it is.

You'll have to check at the dealership more than likely. or custom make one as long as you have a tube bender [if i'm thinking it's the right kind of tube w/ brass fittings and all]

Ok, car's running! took it to the mech in town, he small one I thought didn't know anything. two days it's running. haha

It was a computer ...something..? I'll find out for sure soon.
also my breaks are getting replaced, new rotor's and lines (guess they went bad over winter?)
let's see, there's startup noise and they think it's the waterpump, I was thinking it was the belts though. Granny is paying for it
so I'll just let them do there thing, I kinda trust em now.

the person that drove my car to the shop said they had it running for like a half hour and it was fine. The car must not like me haha.

HAHAHAHA, I'd ask, but that'd be kinda odd. I'll just tell her my "new" car needs some work Cheesy

Do far, the shops only charged I think she said 250, for what they did..new calipers and lines in the front, both sides, and the computer thing. I wont know for sure, until later, dont have minutes until 9 and granny doesn't txt haha.

I have a problem with the radio, the car is on, or at least the radio is on (does it everytime) and i can't get radio reception it seems, it's just static, and then after so long..I dont remeber if cd works right away. But it just kicks on, and the rest of the time is fine. Any ideas?

Also, I can only play "real" cds right?

Check your antennae connection.  If that's loose or disconnected you won't be able to get any reception.
