gonna set this car on fire
« on: May 30, 2008, 11:53:18 PM »

Hello all, my damn cel is still on with the same codes as before. The car stalls mainly when it is hotter out and wont start unless it sits for a couple of minutes. Last time it was stalling i replaced the TPS, MAP sensor, seafoamed the intake and i put in new plug wires. This seemed to fix the problem for like a month and i was getting like 6mpg better than before but it started stalling again when it got hotter out  Undecided. I took it to advance and codes p0123 came up it the scanner said TPS voltage too high. I forgot the other code but it said MAP sensor voltage too high. The last code was large evap leak, ive had this code on for about 4 years so that one doesnt matter. I am at a loss here because both the map and tps are brand new. Any ideas as to what can cause these codes again Huh.

It could be that the evap leak has gotten worse and is now a significant factor compared to before.  I'd at least look into it by doing something temporary like disconnecting the vacuum line to the evap system and just blocking it at the manifold to see if things improve any.  I think it goes into the manifold after the TPS, so large amounts of extra air in the system that the computer doesn't know about could give you a mixture too lean to maintain idle in all conditions...

The car is a 99 the guy that scanned the car at advanc auto said the ecu could be bad or the wires leading to the tps/map could be corroded. I think im gonna take a trip to the j-yard and grab some connecters to the tps/map sensor. I need a new grill and door handle anyways.

I hate to leave a thread dead so i finaly fixed the problem. I took all of the ground wires and cleaned them all off and put dielectric grease on them, the one for the ecu, intake manny, and battery. After that the codes went away and it didnt stall on this humid 85 degree day.
