Well I'm sold on it.  But Emily doesn't want to use her trust fund, so we're limited to eleven thousand, but if you really want to take that big of a hit I"m sure we could work something out.   Wink

No we haven't.  I'm not an Audi expert  but I'm positive the Quattro suspension kills anything in a Passat or other VWs.  And the look is something Emily likes she's a Semi-High Maintainence girl and an Audi sounds a bit more impressive than a VW.  That and the fact that a guy named Greg owns a Jetta and that makes Emily hate all VWs because she can't stand that guy.  Don't ask me.   Lips sealed

Emily changes her own oil with a bit a guidance and she'll do brakes with the same help.  But she worries about what the trends are and what people think.  It's kind of nice to have  a girl that wants to be the hot excrement.

Just browse those forums first. I'd be hesitant to buy a B5 A4 personally. Of course, my buddy could have just had a lemon. The cars are expensive to maintain and I think B5s need more attention (but that might be more for the earlier S4 than the A4). Even if you buy a B6 A4... it's still expensive to maintain (not something you want to take to an independent shop if its something you don't do yourself). The B6 might be 3-4 grand more than you want to spend but if you're spending that much fixing the thing, you may as well get the nicer looking B6.

Find one with a factory body kit... looks MUCH nicer and cleaner.
germanautoparts.com and sites like it will be your best friend. You don't want to buy from a dealership and stores don't have parts. Napa and carquest do, but its cheap replacements. I got "OEM" brakes from carquest... they squeak.

Thanks for all the heads up.  Emily is pretty much decided on the one we found unless we come across a better deal.  Like your car for 11  Wink

Luckily I have a good friend that is a BIG Audi guy.  He's owned three or four.  One being the B5 style A4 and had no issues.  Another guy I know had an A4 and traded it for an S4 and has had no issues aside from being an idiot and not knowing the brake set up.  I'm not too worried.  But if something goes bad I'm not telling you  Cheesy

Lets see some pictures when you get it. That price isn't too far off. I looked mine up at KBB b/c I was curious. I'm looking at just under 11 for trade in and just over 14 for private selling. Suggested retail is over 18 (ha... buy for 18, trade in for 11... right).

Good luck with it... VERY fun car. I'm not a huge fan of huge throw on shifting but other than that... tons of fun. I've grown to love handling more than speed. I'd prefer more accelaration but if you're still getting the 1.8T... a few hundred bucks and you pass me by a long shot.

Do you know off the top of your head what the HP is on the 1.8?  I'm guessing 160-170?  I could probably look it up but then the whole lazy thing sets in.
