When I was changing my brakes and tie rod end, I noticed that I may have a transmission oil leak. It is leaking a red liquid. I have the 5 speed tranny. I posted some pics. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?
Thanks Are you sure this is it(Im in no way doubting your knowledge, just double checking.) Is this something that can be done relatively easily(by that I mean without any special tools, or brain aching labour) or do I need to bring her in to the garage? Info on parts needed?
I'm not sure. Since I"m not there and can't see it.
As for pulling it out, it's not hard but takes a bit of patients. You have to take a screwdriver or pick tool and carefully work the seal out. CAREFULLY. Then you need to pound the new one in with a hammer. I recommend a rubber mallet to be safe. It needs to be slowly pounded in evenly on all sides so you don't wreck the new seal. If you're unsure, it's at max 20 bucks for the seal. But bringing it in means all the labor to get the axle out for them to do it. If you're having problems after your fifth seal then I'd bring it in. But you'll save a few hundred doing it yourself.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP

Axles are pretty easy. I have the manual but they are pretty similar as far as removing them. Lower control arm, lateral control arm, sway bar link need to be disconnected from the body. The strut cradle is removed from the car(this is all just to create space to pull the axle loose) . Remove the axle nuts and then use a pry bar to pop the axles free. I have a more detailed write up somewhere on here if you want to search. I'm just too lazy right now.

I guess I should've figured you have a stick based on the title of the thread Idiot me.
Anyway drain plug is a rubber plug on the Driver side. It's just a black rubber plug above and towards the firewall of the driverside axle. The fill is that little cylinder that wobbles to the touch sitting on top of the tranny. I don't have a picture with me because I won't be home until the weekend, but you can pull it off, be careful there is a little disappearing spring that's inside the cap. If you're not careful you'll spend an hour looking for it.

Red? I'm not sure what color it is, but make sure that you have the NVT-350 fluid [2.1 qts] to put back in. Normal gear oil gives the NVT-350 [A578] problems to say the least. The only place i know of at the moment that sells it, is the dealership though. It will say NVT-350 in bold black letters across the bottle.
