What are your thoughts about the Dodge Magnum... am thinking about buying one, the Durango is too thristy Grin

i like the V6, for fuel saving and they are alot cheaper...

i test drove the 3.5 v6 RWD and it had "no balls" ...i thought i might be able to light them up, maybe traction control?

let me know?

Tig has one and she loves hers.  Not all the 5.7 are AWDs at least here.    You can get the AWD in the 3.5, 5.7 and I think the 6.1.  I've been looking at them for a while.  You can find the odd SRT for cheap tho I don't know what kind of mpg the 6.1 would get ya.  Someday I'll test drive one... Everytime I'm at the dealer they want to sell me a Pacifica or a Charger for some reason..lol.

6.1 is the SRT8 and is only in RWD. Also super expensive for a car that gets gas mialge equivalent to just pouring gas on the ground and burning it.

Are you buying from the Oshkosh area??  I'm down here until June 13th (or close to it) during the week I have Corrections training from 8-5 and I have nothing to do after 5 M-F so if you're looking for someone to go with give me a call.  I really   Grin want to test drive the SRT8 even if you're not buying one.

One of my parts suppliers has an SRT Magnum and he put a K&N cold air on it and got 28-30 mpg on the interstate [70-80mph range] when he went on vacation 2 years ago. and yeah, it's got a hemi.

SE 2.7L V6
SXT 3.5 V6
R/T 5.7 HEMI
SRT8 6.1 HEMI

with the MDS on the 5.7 it gets the same milage as the 3.5 V6

if you do more city, the 3.5 will save you more, if you do more highway the 5.7 is the way to go

and the SXT(3.5) and R/T(5.7) are available in AWD

http://www.dodge.com/en/2008/magnum/models/srt8/index.html

yay research.

Well just a little counter point, I have a friend with a Ram 1500 single cab 5.7, now the engine is now not at all stock, it has intake, a chip, a short belt for race days, Headers with a cut out to opperate as open straight pipes, or when the valve is closed has a low restriction aftermarket exhaust. He sees around 10 mpg, but then again the truck weighing as much as it does keeps up with stock evos and STis and the sort by running mid to high 13s at the track when he has the sticky tires on. Street tires hes lucky for a 15 since there is no traction...at all.

buy something that gets upwards of 35 mpg, with gas prices heading to $6/gallon, you'll be spending more money buying gas than enjoying driving the car, before you know it you'll try returning it but the value will be so low you might as well donate it to charity. think smart, get a mini if you want balls, it gets good mileage along with it.

ONLY GET A MINI IF THERE IS A MINI DEALERSHIP NEARBY

seriously, mini's are almost impossible to work on yourself and only the MINI dealer will have the special tools required. if the mini dealership is within a short drive, GO FOR IT, they're alot of fun, and get crazy good gas milage (if you keep your foot out of it)

thank you for all the feedback!!!

i was think just the 3.5...but it sounds like the 5.7 gets the same mpg on highway, which is most important to me. this opens the market up alittle. what is weird, and someone already stated it, is that the 5.7 are price close to the 3.5 and 2.7

i would by a mini, but: am 6' 250 (i like roomy interiors), i have a kid, and dog Smiley

Dark:

I have been test driving down in mineral point area...just a 3.5 that was lowered and had 20s on it...it was nice:)
