This sucks!!! General Rant! Anyone know the Lemon Law?
« on: January 17, 2006, 01:27:23 AM »

OK, let me start from the beginning.  I purchased my 96 Sebring 5 speed Oct 2000 with 52,xxx miles on it, ran like a champ.  It was a Salesman Car.  In November of 2002, I heard a grinding in the Transmission so I took it in & found out the Differential Pin was broke free from the housing & needed to be replaced.  Had the warranty so got it replaced with the $100 deductible.  Had no problems til about December of 2004.  Stopped shifting into gears.  Found out the plastic gear on the speed sensor broke off & melted to the main bearing destroying it.  While it was out, i had the clutch replaced also.  $3k later, my car was back on the road with a new clutch, trans & a new 3year/36,000 mile warranty.  It was good until it stopped Shifting again Sept '05, back in again & the differential pin broke again & jammed 1st gear.  Once again, new Trans under warranty.  3 months later in Dec of 05, get off the freeway from some Christmas shopping, stops shifting.  Had to stop the car completely to get into gear & limp home.  Tow it in & once again, the Diff pin came out & Cracked the Bell housing.  This time replaced parts inside & out free under warranty.  After waiting 3 weeks for parts, got the car back Tuesday Jan 10th & all is well in the universe.  Finally, yesterday get home from a local pizza establishment, go to back into the garage, & egads, it wont go into reverse!!!  Now i have to take it in AGAIN to find out what is wrong.  The car now sits in front of the house, 86,400 miles, sitting on the 3rd Re-Re-manufactured Transmission, probably needing a 4th.   Does the lemon law cover this cause this is ridiculous.  Sorry about the long rant but I am NOT happy with my car right now.   Angry Angry Angry

It took just over 2 years to break the first time and another 2+ years the 2nd time. Maybe crappy work from December on. Do you drive it like you stole it? That's about how many times i had work on mine in less time... a LOT less time.

I think it's pretty weird that you're having all these problems with the manual tranny.  I've beat mine pretty badly and never had any problems outside of the clutch.  And Hahn Racecraft is still using their stock tranny with no rebuild on their "World's fastest eclipse 420a"

I know!!  Thats why I am pissed off.  I don't know if there putting it together crappy or what but I am afraid to drive it normal cause I am afraid its gonna break again.  I am tempted to take it somewhere else next time but I don't know if my warranty is thru the dealer or Chrysler.  Maybe i will take it somewhere else & have them call over to verify warranty.

I'd take it somewhere else and have them look at it and have them battle over the warranty issue.  I have a mechanic here for stuff I won't/can't do that does that for me.  When the warranty shop screws up take it somewhere new.

I might.  What makes this really crappy is its my local 5 star CHRYSLER dealer causing all the problems!!  I could understand some little side shop causing trouble but not the dealer.  Its rediculous!

Screw the "5 star" dealership! I have had so many problems with them. The last 2 times I left the place, I had the wrong part twice, my hood left unlatched (which I noticed as I drove down the highway), and a screwdriver left down inside my leather seat.

I think "5 star" means it will take 5 trips to get stuff right.
