Im am going to be getting some new wheels and tires in the next couple of weeks. I was shopping around town looking. I found ones that I want and going to get them ordered.
The wheels are 18 X 7.5
The shop told me that the best tire is is 225/40/18. Is this the right one?

my stock 16's are 205/55/16 so they are 20 less on the width. if the 16's are skinnier than then 18's you're going to be getting that sounds about right. Are the tires and rims coming from the same shop? if so, see if they will mount and install the front two, and then check there for tire scrub. I've seen tires actually be too wide for a rim. It was still 100% safe as far as the mounting and all goes, but when you turned the wheel all the way, it was scrubbing against the wheel wells.
Im just waiting for a call from the shop on the price. They did not know the exact cost on Saturday. They said they dont carry them but their would have to order them. If the price is right I will go with the ones from town or I will order them from Tire Rack.

Well im going to be ordering them from Tire Rack. I got the quote a couple of days ago and I can get them from them paying shipping and save about 350 bucks.
You think that there will be a problem with that off set and tire sizes? Offset: +38mm, 225/40/18
Another thing is these are only going to be on in the summer. What type of tire is the best? Right now on the car I got all season high performace tires. Would summer tires be better or just go with a all season performace tire?

I think all season performance unless you want to swap tires during the winter.
yeah....... im keeping the stock ones for the winter and then my new rims for when their is no snow on the ground. I just dont know if it would pay off buying summer peformace tires or just go with the all season performace ones.
