Can this really work???
« on: January 16, 2006, 05:05:16 AM »

Ok it's gonna sound really weird but last night I had a dream that I put 2G headlights on my Avenger. Cool When I woke up this morning I thought about it.

Fenders would be easy: just replace mine with stock Eclipse fenders. But that's where the easy stuff stops.

To make the headlights fit under the hood, I'd have to chop off the front half of my hood and weld on the front half of an Eclipse hood. Is that even do-able? Then I'd have to find someone who's good at fiberglass to fill in the gaps on the bumper cover to accomidate the sharper angle of the Eclipse lights.  Then how would I even mount the lights?

I don't think this could really be done without extensive work/paitence/cash/experience. I have none of those Cry, but I'm really curious to know if what I dreamed could really be done.

Thanks

buy eclipse fenders, hood, front bumper, and radiator core support, put all those on the car

then the headlights will bolt right up and fit perfectly

yep, i have heard a couple of people that tried to put just the lights on but it looked all goofy. The best thing to do would be to do what john said or try to cut your bumper to make it fit right.

I wasn't talking a full Eclipse converson, I just meant the headlights themselves. I saw one Avenger with Mazda 6 headlights. I know that was a show car and took a lot of work, but I was thinking that there might be a somewhat easy way to do that.  Guess it doesn't matter because rite now I can't even afford the 97+ swap I wanted to do for so long  Roll Eyes

thanks guys

yeah his looks good from a distance but the fit is kinda off and even he recommended not doing it. I'd just wait and save to do the 97+ swap

I looked him up. Yeah it looks bad but it looks like he just crammed the lights into the Avenger housing. I was planning on changing the front to accomidate the lights, not the other way around like he did. And I just realized, I don't need to weld together 2 hoods, i can just bolt on a normal Eclipse one to fit the top of the lights. Only real work left would be filling in the gap that would be between the bumper and lights.

I was just wondering if it could be done. Oh well, gess the dream I had will be just that Cry

BTW If anyone is selling a 97 front bumper in decent shape for cheap, drop me a p.m. Smiley

I figured
1. bolt up fenders
2. bolt up hood
3. fiberglass the area that would probably be between the cut-out on our bumpers to mate up with the different angle of the clpise lights  facing toward the center of the car.

*SLAP* I have got to forget about this idea I had. It's gonna bug the bajezzus out of me!!! Cheesy

O.K. Post dead now. LOL. Thanks for the input guys
