For those who remember, here is a SHORT video of what I've been talking about with my speedometer.
For those who don't... sigh. ok. i'll retell it.
When I go around a RH curve, if my speed and the tightness of the curve create enough force to move all of the transmission fluid to the driver side of the transmission, it makes the speedometer seem to work. As soon as i fully straighten out, the needle drops like a dead bird.
And if you don't like Rob Zombie, turn the sound off now before you click on the video.
I haven't been able to get to it [Physically and time wise]. My 'working area' is about 20 miles away, and until the end of Dec, I didn't have a job yet. Hopefully, once I get both hub assemblies on the passenger side replaced [next MOST important repair], I'll be able to take an extra day off from work so i can try to take a look at it.
Borg Warner #58305 [BWD 58305 if you go to an O'Reilly's] is the exact same picture that you showed me only it doesn't come supplied with a gear.... which kinda worries me. If the gear is broken, how do I go about getting a replacement gear? OR do I have to go pay out the ass at the Dodge Dealer?
If it is broken, the actual gear is probably not the problem. The clips on the sensor that the gear attaches to is most likely broken. It's really not that big of a job to pull that sensor out. You just need to remove the battery and battery tray, look down, and there it will be.
And why people always assume everything is extremely expensive from a dealership is beyond me. If you do happen to need a speed sensor gear, they can be had at the dealership for around $6 I've found that many parts are cheaper at the dealership that your local Auto-Zone, O'reillys, or whatever store you shop at. A Mitsubishi dealership will almost always be cheaper than a Dodge/Chrysler dealership. Avenger/Sebring and the 95-99 Eclipse share almost everything under the hood given you have an I-4 N/A and your ordering for an N/A.

You must have a nice Mitsu/Dodge dealer near you. The one that's near me is owned by a guy who would sell a lemon to his mother if it would make his montly quota. I'll have to check that as soon as i'm able to.
also while you are looking at the VSS check your wiring, had this happen to me on another car and after i got looking at the VSS i tracked the wire and a mouse or something had eaten it, and it would connect on LH turns and do the same thing your needle was doin.
hmm. wire tracking sounds fun. think i'll let my mechanic do that if the sensor turns out good
Basic wire reconnect if it's damaged there right?
If it happens to be a broken wire, strip the ends, twist together, and the use of electrical tape would be just fine. A more proper way would be to solder them together and use heat shrink tubing. It could also be the wire separating from the plug as well. I've had that happen to a sensor on the back of the block. That was a lot of fun fixing that one.
