Remotely locking... lights flash? Horn chirp? Mine doesn't.
« on: February 29, 2008, 03:26:05 AM »

Got a question on the remote door locks.  Are the parking lights supposed to flash and the horn supposed to chirp when you lock it with the remote and arm the alarm? Mine does neither.  It does turn on the interior lights for a second though. This is fine if it's dark, but in the daylight I have to be right next to the car and try to listen to the doors locking to know if they are locked. Any help would be appreciated.  Huh

Nope.  Mine never did.  A little green security light should come on in the dash... thats it.

Damn, you're quick, I just posted this.
Well that sucks..  I do have the green security light.  What good is that when you are walking away though?
I may just have to install a bulldog remote starter. Then I could hook up the parking lights and horn, plus have the starter.  Then I could do away with this crappy remote too.

DO NOT use a bulldog remote starter we have had at least 6  car fires caused by those Pieces of CRAP

Yes, I can say that some of them are. I used to install them. I've seen a few go bad.  Though I have had a cheap one on my truck for 5 years now.  So I guess they can't be all bad.

I did hear of some causing fires, but it was because of people using splice connectors and crimp connectors, instead of the t-harness or hard wiring them the way the instructions say.   I was thinking of researching some different brands though. Thanks for the input.

Does anyone know of a kit or of a way to hook up the horn so that it beeps (chirps) when you lock the doors?  I know I can hook up the parking lights with no problem... with just using a relay that is hooked to the interior lights that flash with locking. I know I could hook up the horn the same way but it would be a two second double honk.... not exactly a quick honk by any means... might get too much attention.  Tongue

Anyone have any suggestions for websites that I could find something like this?  It seems like there would be alot more people interested in a visual and audio confirmation that their doors have locked.
