well my sebring is stalling on me, 95% of the time it's after it has been warmed up and running for awhile. but if I rev it high it will also do it. and sometimes when i first start it.
once it dies, i have to wait awhile for the motor to get cold again before it will start. I know it's not overheating becuase the marker is in the right range. the oil pressure gauge does jump around though, (but i just replaced my valve seals becuase oil was leaking into the plug wires or soemthing)
I have replaced the crank sensor as well and no help there. the previous owner said he replaced it this summer (after i had already installed another one ) and he cleaned the egr valve and that stoped the stalling before.
it did have a exhaust leak and that is now fixed. the codes are 11, 22 (o2 sensor code) and 55 (end of codes)
This currently is my DD as my truck is broke down too, and I need to driveable ASAP! Please help!
***edit*** it also was in a front end wreck, I don't know the damage, but could this all just be a ASD relay? and if so, could I use a 5 prong relay from my 98 f150 if it is that?

I'd run some seafoam thru the intake system first ...I'm betting the IAC (Idle Air Controller) ASD really is also possible /any 30 amp Bosche style relay works ...
I cleaned out the egr, and throttle body, I didn't get the iac off or anything. but it started and was running at like 1k rpm and gradually incresed to 2k..and then it clicked twice and shut off, sounded like a fuel pump relay clicking so would the asd do that?

And what about the rpm problem?
ASD would do that.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP
I put seafoam in the hose off the valve cover, (also the rest in the gastank, I got a quarter of gas left)and also the only other two I could pull off, the big vacuum line the squueze clip is upside down.
I also put a asd relay in and it still stalled. just not as adbutlly at first, I was watching the rpms before it stalled, and it was at 1600 and it keep raising up to like 2100 and then back down..it be a bit then go back up. right before it stalled it got more freq. I was trying to take off the IAC, but I lost the bit, it's hard to get too right after the car stalls, and is warm. but I dont want to strip the screws. Also the egr valve when it on correctly the vacuum hoses are on top right? (just wanna make sure)
So my question now, what's next to try? and what is causing this wierd rpm problem, becuase before it idled at like 500rpm.
I'm not for sure if when i edit my post it'd update..but I'm stumped I'm going to take it to the local mech. that my grandparents use, and see what he says.
The bigger one here in town, is overpriced (i think) and misdiagnosed my car (said plugs/wires would fix it, wanted 260 to do em')
the iac is not like a plunger, its actually an electric motor with a screw. the motor spins one way it lets more air in, spins the other lets less air in. but i don't think you should be able to move it manually, or at least i never tried to. clean it good, pop it back on and see if it helps. also do our motors autoshutdown if the oil pressure goes too low? otherwise if the oil pump was bad it wouldnt cause the motor to die, it would cause it to seize, which equals needing a new engine.
another question, when it does start and is running, does it run well, or is it quirky and lopey(lopey being opposite of smooth)
belts whine, but after a bit they go away and it's smooth not jerky or anything
but the idle does increase over time..very slowly say it's at 1k over 20 minutes it'll be at 2k.. but now it's stalling sooner..withen maybe 5-8 minutes lol
Allright I finally got the IAC off, it was really carbony lol
Umm my question now is, does the IAC act like a plunger, and if so should i be able to push it in and out? cus I tried hard and it wouldn't move.
YES it does act like a plunger. No, do not try to push in or out the shaft. Did you clean all the carbon off of it and the inside of the TB where it seats?
Spray around the intake, plenum and TB gasket with carb cleaner to see if the gaskets are leaking.
I went to a pick and pull and got a throttle body, tps, iac, and the hoses (mine had a hole on the one going to the throttle body) I cleaned it out with carb cleaner, looks awesome!
now it wont start, it sputters every so many tries..but wont start. there's gas in it, I checked all the connections nothing!
I put my new relay in the asd, and fuel pump relay (even though i hear it prime everytime) and nothing
I tested spark and the first 3 plugs, I get spark and the left most one, and the other two, nothing that i can tell. I was pissed off so I didn't want to hold it too make sure
Any ideas? I wasted 32 dollars today out of my last 50..so I'm almost broke yet again and i need this car for school and to get a job
Well I'm about to drop money for a distro I sold my truck today and I am determined to get this car running since it's cheaper (hopefully) then to get another runner.
Hopefully it fixes it, or i can take it back becuase im stumped.
