Hi. I am planning to go turbo this summer. I found a kit on ebay( I know some of you are probably slapping their faces right now), but I showed it to my cousin who is a drag car mechanic, and he said it looked ok. I wanted to know if everything I would need is in that kit, and your opinion on it. Glad you admit it. The best thing to do is get a book and start reading. You shouldn't really mess with it till you have a strong idea of what you're doing. Are you planning on putting it on yourself?
I didn't even look at the kit since 99% of the eBay kits are the same. You can really do some damage if you don't know what you're doing. The kit will not include an oil pan tapped for an oil return line. It's small stuff like that, that will cause you to blow your engine. There's a lot more that goes into it than purchase, and bolt on. Where do you live? Maybe there's a member close to you that can help you with some of the mods.

Actualy, it does have the oil catch pan, with the lines, and much more. No, I wouldnt be installing it, my cousin that I talked about earlier will. Should I just save up 3000 extra and get the one Alex wrote about?
Not a catch can, a return line. The return line goes into the oil pan. If it's just a catch can that's there to make sure oil isn't getting sucked into the air intake. You need to tap the oil pan, and run the return line.
It's stuff like that, that can cause the engine to got Kaboom!
The TE04 is actually a fine turbocharger, especially for running low boost. If you're just looking to throw something on and give yourself an extra 30HP then this kit will work well for you.
If you want to really push extreme horsepower, you need to rebuild the entire motor. Also which transmission do you have.

But you are still going to need something for a fuel system and tuning.

I always thought the idea of having two small injectors per cylinder would be a good idea, (vs one big one) but wouldnt that involve a lot more head work?? what compression would u need to run w/ that setup?

the reason for my logic is that the atomized fuel will be more dispersed through out the cylinder, I must be thinking of something different. carry on.

So are they similar to cold start injectors, and just run off an on/off switch? They used to do this on the old TD's to run higher boost, except just using one or sometimes 2 cold start injectors and boost pressure switches. Or are the ones you/they use bigger than that, or like normal injectors?
