Fiberglass Body Kits
« on: January 22, 2008, 04:50:08 AM »

There are body kits on ebay for as little as $200ish plus shipping... TC1 and TC2.  I was wondering if anybody on here has one of them, and could vouch for the quality of the pieces.  If something is that cheap, it usually throws a red flag in my mind, so I was wondering why the prices have gone down so much.  Keep in mind that I haven't looked at any of this stuff in about 4-5 years, and a fiberglass TC2 kit was about $1000 at that time.  Is it just because the urethane kits are more common than they used to be, making the glass kits less desireable (and therefore cheaper), or are these kits el Crappo?

Most of the kits are legit.  But they have a low starting price and ask for 1000+ on shipping.

Fiberglass kits are mainly for cars that are going to be show vehicles. if you are wanting a daily driver, polyurethane is the best way to go

here's my test ... go look under your stock bumper if there are any marks/ scratches/gouges those would destoy/crack a glass bumper ... also note the TC1=3" lower then stock and the TC2=2" lower

Thanks for the input, guys.  I'm just looking at a few options for the car right now.  I really got a killer deal on it, and I can't justify spending more for a body kit than I paid for the car itself.  The car was run up on a curb by my Mom (that's who I bought it from), and the bottom part of the front bumper is screwed up.  I was just thinking that $200ish for a body kit is prob. not much more than I'd have to spend to replace the bumper, and I think an A/S with a TC2 looks an awful lot like a GTO.  So, that was my train of thought.  I'm also thinking about selling the car, and a $1k body kit would eat up a lot of profit.

What about Duraflex? How does it compare to FiberGlass and Urethane?
