How did I miss this thread?

Umm you can make anything work with enough time and money, ie, turbo from mustang etc.

If you have to ask all the questions you are asking you really aren't ready to work on this car.  Alain was being nice.  I suggest you go to
www.2gnt.com and read up.  Don't post anything, you will regret it, just use the search feature and read.

Turbo is the best way to get any kind of gains without spending a fortune and N/A many have tried and many have failed.  I need to get ahold of Zilla from the old days and find out what happened with his.  I know he finished it but other than that I don't know but he dumped a whole buttload of money into his and went N/A.

Keep in mind that bolting up a turbo is not just as easy as bolting up a turbo.  Do some reading, get a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and read up, its a good start.

Good luck, have fun.

the ford 2.3L turbos came in several versions and manufacturers

they could make some of the easiest turbo to fit on a log manifold and pull decent power
OR
the worst ones you could try to fit and be way underpowered in the end

it's all in the years and model of the cars

hey look, it's the turbo version of 52 card pickup! But yeah, when you go over to 2gnt, do be sure you read...ALOT... you will get sleepy from searching and reading. just make sure you stay the course. the more you learn now in this R&D stage of your project, the less you will have to learn later through costs of repair.

For some odd reason, it always makes sense WHY you shouldn't have done something when it involves a penalizing cost of money coming out of your pocket after it happens.

The 2.3 Ford EFI Turbo engine used Garrett T3's, very similar to the Chrysler turbos except Ford used the standard T3 flange. They're good to about 15-18 psi stock I think. I know using a compressor off an 87-88 T-bird Turbo Coupe is an upgrade for a Chrysler T3.

And to the OP, cam kits for these engines are 500-800 bucks new, so I hope you have deep pockets Smiley

the latest version of the t-bird turbo used a small IHI RHB-52 turbo
earlier version used either a nice t3 with a 0.63 of A/R or a smaller 0.48
most mustang used the 0.63
mustang turbo with carburetor used a very bad air research turbo
