kinda new here
« on: January 20, 2008, 03:56:26 AM »

hey whats going on. im new here as you can see. and i recently bought my brothers 95 dodge avenger 5 speed. i currently own a camaro, and after i put the rest of my money into that i plan on putting it into the dodge. i just want to learn more about 4 cylinder engines and i plan on putting in a turbo from a junked eclpise. i heard that i have the same engine and it would work out fine. mabe a few other mods like a cam and head job, but the whole reason i joined is to get good honest opinions and advise on this kinda stuff. so like i said, im new and i prolly might have a lot of questions here and there. so try to cut me some slack.

Turbo from a junked Eclipse is not going to work as you think it is.

You have a Chrysler 420A and the turbo Eclipse will have a 4g63 Mitsubishi motor in it.  Not interchangeable in the least.

I suggest you also check out www.2gnt.com, it is an awesome source of information on our motor.  Don't post, just search and read.

If you have turbo questions, you have Me, Alain, and DarkTengu that are all pretty knowledgeable... not in that order, I would put Alain and DT before me.

Welcome and good luck, we will try to help out as much as possible.

The plus side is you have the better fuel rail's a 4cyl and a 5 spd, a great combination.

Pretty much what he said.  Unless the junked Eclipse has the 420a, but it was modified which is possible.  That's what you should hope for.

Take your car to ANY Dodge Dealership, and have them run a Recall History on it.  If they say the ball-joint recall wasn't done, get it done.  It's free.  If the dealership tries to hassle you, fight them on it.  It's a life-time recall and they MUST fix it for free.  Lot of bad accidents because of those damn things.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

welcome

go easy on the door handles too, they will come off on you, as one of the latest victims of this design flaw i feel obliged to warn new owners, unless its already been replaced then you've got some time.
