Power Window Issue
« on: January 17, 2008, 01:21:44 PM »

Here's the issue, my power window motor is still good, but it started rolling down crooked. On the drivers side, the back part of the window would go down, and the front part would get stuck and not go any lower than 1/4" [door open or closed]. After I removed the front rail guide, when i have the door open, it rolls down and comes back up [i have to watch it a little just to make sure on the up roll]. When it's closed, it still tries to mess up rolling down. But, I think it's  because of the weather stripping along the top [which i'd also like to have replaced]

Since i took the rail guide out, it rolled down, so that tells me that the rail guide is at least part of the problem. Any reason why the window would be hanging up on the rail? Is it supposed to have any form of lubricant on it that is designed for the window to use?

Also, I'm not able to see [one problem is i'm not holding it right] the place where the rail slides back into. Just like a USB connector slides inside the port, it has to slide into a certain spot before i can bolt it back in.

There should be white plastic (Delrin) slides/glides that hold the window if these break off the adjustable "supports" it causes similar troubles ...

I don't remember seeing any plastic pieces. Is there a cutaway diagram or anything available?

ANNNND, can the door be taken apart beyond the interior panel being taken off? I have no way to really see inside the door and so i can't see what i'm doing.

As long as I can see what I'm taking apart, I can fix things as long as I can see HOW I'm going to be replacing said item.

The exoskeleton likeness of the door is causing me problems. I can't 'see' with my fingers enough to paint a full picture.

No door can't be taken apart anymore then the inner panel ...It's very hard to work on get access especially to adjust the plastic guides... It might be easier to remove the entire regulator mechanism to work on it ouside the door

hey, while we at it. my power window was working fine and all too, until the switch wasnt working properly one day, and then one day, i pushed the switch too hard, and it just felt down inside teh dash boarad.
i got a used switch after that, 2 of them actually, and it still dont work.
I think it might be the fuse, but i am having trouble finding the power mirror fuse.
any one knows where is it located and what kind of a fuse is it?
