my baby got a boo-boo
« on: January 11, 2006, 09:43:27 PM »

well i was parked in a parking lot the other day and when i came out to my car and unarmed the alarm, it beeped 4 times telling me that it had gone off.. i checked inside and everything seemed in order.. i checked the exterior and noticed that someone had backed into the front of my car leaving a huge gouge in my front bumper, pushing my headlight back about an inch and denting my hood.. not to mention taking off.. turns out i look around the parking lot and find a suburban with my white paint on the back... once the cops were called they talked to the person and the person agrees to fix it.. now i gotta go without my baby for 3-4 days though.. and i hate seeing it like this.. here's a pic to see the damage.

That sucks.  Close to the same thing happened to Dave when he first got the 95 Bring... a pickup truck with a hitch backed into the hood.  Think on the good side and maybe you can get some new headlights or even a aftermarket front end should the mood strike ya.  I had my old avenger hit by a transport truck, who didn't know he couldn't make a left hand turn from the right hand lane...sigh.  Good luck with your car!  Make sure you get a loaner out of them too.

Exactly, I've been hit three times, and none of the times did I find out who it was.  No one saw it, blah blah blah.  Glad you found the guy!!

it was actually a teen girl who did it... but ya.. she's getting it fixed on monday.. still never heard how much its gonna cost... she knows a guy that owns a professional body shop so he's probably givin her a good deal.. i am still curious about how much damage is actually done though.. everything is repairable which is lucky cuz i assume the plastic bumpers arent cheap and a new hood would hurt her pocketbook  Tongue

Don't worry about her pocketbook as she is the one who hit you.  You have the right to take your car where ever you want.  I can't see any damage from that photo on the hood, but I would get them to replace your bumper as it didn't have those big creases in it before she hit you.  At least make sure to get a second opinion and just not of the girl who hit you's friend.

Glad the cops caught the person. I was involved in a minor hit and run that caused no damage to my car, but I did chase the bastard down to get the plate number  Grin.

Cops didn't do anything though, but it was a fun chase!

I agree with True Horsepower...take it to the body shop of your choice.

its hard to see in the pic but the truck backed up on to my hood right above the headlight which pushed it back a bit and chipped the paint off the front of the hood.. that made the side of my hood buckle too

heres a pic of the side

Yeah, get the hood replaced too if you can.  She did you no favours hitting your car.. you owe her none.  She didn't even leave you a note hopeing to get away with it.  Get your car fixed right.

That's always nice. Same thing happened to me this past summer. I was at work and I needed a drink so I went out to the bring to get some change out of the console. As I was walking back I looked back at the car and i had to do a double take. Someone had backed into my right front fender and knocked it in and scuffed the bumper and even taken a small chunk of rubber off my front tire. Never found out who it was. Insurance had to cover it. All $720 of it plus a rental for 3 days. At least you figured out who did it. Only good thing that came from my experience was getting the whole front bumper repainted and getting to flog an '04 Grand Prix GT for three days. Grin
