Front Bumper screws
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:45:10 AM »

hey guys, I have a question.
I took of my front bumper months ago so i couldnt modify it and put a grill in there.
when i took out the bumper, i remember it had so many damng bolts and plastic screws, that it drove me crazy.
but here is the thing, i was able to take all the metal screws pretty easily with 1 or 2 bolts braking, but i was still able to remove the bumper, however, those plastic screws drove me crazy. i didnt know how to take  them off or unscrew the, no matter how much i tried those damn plastic screws, they wont unscrews. they just keep turning and turning without coming out.
here is what i need to know guys. where can i buy these plastic screws besides the dealer ship being my last choise since they are going to be the most expensive. i tried looking on ebay, but i wasnt been able to find them for my avenger.
i went to autozone and pepboys and asked them if they have  some, but they looked on their computer and said that they dont have specific ones for my car. they only carry the universal ones which i dont think are the right ones.
any suggestion?

the universal ones will work fine. i found some similar at ace hardware of all places, otherwise try a local auto body shop. worst case you can go to http://www.autobodysupplies.com/AutoBodyHardwareIndex.htm etc and get some similar clips. the plastic fasteners strip out like mad anyways, so i'd go for the easier option.

I would say the only place you're gonna get them would be at the dealership or the yard. mine came out easy as pie, but I didn't use a screwdriver to take them out i just used a phillips #2 bit from a screwdriver set and put it in a 1/4 in socket and turned it out with my fingers once I got it half way out just wiggled and pulled a little and they came out. I found when I used a screwdriver they wouldn't back because i was pushing up on the screw not allowing it to come out
