Whistler mod didn't work
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:25:19 AM »

So I tried to clear up my foggy headlights tonight but it didn't work to well.

I sanded with 1000grit, then wetsanded 1000grit, then did the same with 1500 grit.  I think the part that I messed up is I didn't have any Plastic polish, so I used aluminum polish b/c that's all I had.

Anyways, the headlights are still foggy so any tips?  Do you think plastic polish will make a difference?

2000 grit ....1500 might leave too deep of scratches to polish out

start with 400, 800, 1000, 1500 wet.  2000 if you can get your hands on it.

Plastic polish and buffer... electric buffer works real good. as long as you don't burn the plastic.

yeah finish up with 2000 wet sand.  I also put 2 coats of clear coat, it really gave the new look to my headlight.  Make it wet and dont sand it.

Yea I checked the local hardware, Menards, Murrays and Autozone...

I'll hit up the auto-paint shop tomorrow and see if they have the stuff

I used 320 grit sandpaper with water, and believe it or not, it takes out all that fog even better, and still dont scratch up the lenses. I went to 400, 600 and then 800, and i was done. looked very nice, esepcially after applying "plastX" to it.
