hey guys i just wanted to get some of your knowledgable input here before i attempt to do this. First off im a newbie when it comes to avengers so thats why im asking for some input. i do know a lot about cars and performance related stuff. i have a 98 monte carlo z34 with the 3800 supercharged, xp cam smaller pulley ect that i have run 13.3 in the 1/4 this fall. ive also owned a 88 shelby z dodge daytona which i traded for my 95 avenger. Anyways heres how i want to run my setup.
My current mods are no cat or precats, port matched upper and lower intakes, and a CAI. I have a spare 2.5 motor that was given to me with the car if something with the setup goes wrong which i hope doesnt. Id rather run a tad bit rich and not run lean and grenade the motor. my motor has 153k on it but runs like a champ so im gonna get the setup goin on this first and get it working before i build up anything else.
The turbo i will be getting for the venge is a KKK turbo that comes stock on porshes. it has been rebuilt and ballanced and upgraded to be bigger and better. im getting it from my friend who ran it for a little while on his 88 transam but had tuning issues and is gonna sell it to me for $75 .
Since i dont wanna weld on cast i want to take the exhaust after both downpipes meet at a T and mount the turbo after that if i can. i know most setups have it up in the engine bay ect but i think it be easier to mount in the back out of the way for running the exhaust piping ect. I know the turbo is prob a little big for the 2.5 i think it will spool it just might have some lag. anothetr reason i want to run it under the car is regular exhaust pipe will be easier for me to weld to and then i can run my charge pipe from the turbo directly to the FMIC end down there and then all i gotta do is route it from the other side of the intercooler (which is near where my cai is anyways) up to the tb. I havent ruled out having the turbo in the engine bay but for starters i would rather leave it under the car so i would have to run such a long oil line to the turbo as well. im gonna put in some poly mounts when i do this so the engine dont rock to much and everything stays in place well.
Now as far as fuel goes this is where i dont know much about the avenger fuel system. im gonna need a way to monitor fuel either a air fuel gauge or wideband ( which i would like to not have to buy at first cause they are pricey) How much fuel can a stock pump take? mines a 95 so can i modify my stock fuel pressure regulaor to turn up the fuel pressure. i dont trust the stock injectors to support enough fuel on there own so before i run bigger pricey injectors i might do what i did on my daytona and many of them do is hook up a couple of cold start injectors and mount them right before the tb in the upper intercooler pipe and have a hobbs pressure switch turn them on for more fuel the hobbs switch u can adjust to whatever psi and they send power to the cold start injector kicking them on and running more fuel. if i get a air fuel ratio gauge i can monitor fuel somewhat.
what would be a better alternative to extra injectors tho? what size injectors would be good and what fuel pressure regulator would work. i want to run 5-7 lbs of boost to start maybe 10 eventually. any input would be great thanks

First, I wish you a lot of luck, and can't wait to see pictures. A lot of people that have the 2.5 have talked about putting a turbo on (all of them about ) and only a few have done it. Your biggest obstacle the A604. It's the transmission that your avenger has. It's well known for breaking down, a lot.
The fuel pump, just upgrade to the Walbro Fuel Pump. I'm not sure what the max is on our stock pumps, since I've had the Walbro pretty much the entire time I've had the car and it works like a charm. Although I have the 420a motor, I picked up the AEM FPR and that will be perfect for what I"m doing, and my car is much more thirsty than you're planning for yours. Hope that helps.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP
watch it Dark, no interest in turbo here...yet . anyway the a604 is a very smooth shifting transmission made more for luxury and smooth shifts than power, however if u take care of it you'll be fine. two things you need to do are get it rebuilt or have the pin removed, and get a transmission cooler at www.disturbingmotorsports.com your injectors would need to upgrade, but not too much, 255lph should be sufficient. your stock injectors will be able to handle 7 or 8psi, not sure about anything higher. as long as you can find room for your piping, you'll be ok with that. good luck with your build.
luckily i got a tranny cooler and a tranny that has been in there for about 30k with synthetic fluid and the guy who had it before me welded the differential pin in there.

lol. The A604 in the Avenger's was supposed to come with ATF+4 from the factory which can ONLY be manufactured AS a synthetic. If you have some transmission shop trying to tell you that they put 'Synthetic ATF+4 Transmission Fluid' in the A604 as opposed to non-synthetic, they may think that they can sell you a Flux Capacitor because it will decrease your car's 'fluxing'. lol
Wow I havent been around in a week and this sounds like a great opportunity that really sounds like it can work... I cant wait to here more updates of this

ya well its the valvoline atf+4 full sythetic fluid thats in it that the guy i bought it from put in it i took it to now trans shop i dont take my car to shops i work on them myself

so what should i do about fuel? what kind of injectors, fuel pressure regulator ect are options? i dont really wanna spend the $$ on a wideband yet. i will be getting a a/f gauge tho

you have to be careful, some avenger/sebrings (the earlier ones) are to be run atf +3. atf+4 is for the newer transmissions. there is a thread with ford injectors which were slightly modified to fit, i'll see if ican get this for you.
here it is:
"More then anyone would like to spend It's a long story (as Dave can attest to), including buying a "supposed" kit from TKT (Thomas Knight Turbo) for 3500$US, which was a piece of crap, ended-up making my own mounting assembly, custom pistons, complete tranny upgrade, full fuel system upgrade (using Ford 30# injectors), full exhaust setup, etc.. In the end I spent about 10K-12k easy, which includes a spare engine to work on, garage time, dyno time, etc..
If I was going to do it again, probably could be done for about 4-5k, but I'd much rather go the turbo route instead now.
I did find some interesting things along the way, for example, with 30# injectors, and no SAFC (or other means to lean it out), when at WOT, the tranny won't shift, funny hitting the rev limiter and just staying there
Also, my first set of custom pistons had a few kinks, with them slightly clearing the top of the deck, etc.. etc.. But hey, half the fun is in the build

well obviously you are gonna need to have forged internals the crank rods and pistons need that to handle the boost(well unless you stay below 7 psi), so good luck there i dont think they are made for the car so its gonna be a custom job. the bottom end is goign to be a weak point on this car make sure you get things set up right. I would say get a wideband its just much much smarter. Tuning might be a bitch but im sure there will be someone who can do it i know your gonna need ECU work but i have heard that they dont/cant reflash the ECUs in these cars so tuning will be hard.
Seriously good luck, pics, cause if you do this i might actually keep my car lol (if you do it for less than 5k that is)
ya well i got a spare motor with low miles that i can upgrade rods and stuff with later im just gonna get the setup workin with this motor keep the boost around like 6-7lbs it will be intercooled. anyone know if i get a wideband if i would need 2 or could i just run one off the dp for the turbo and disconnect the other o2 sensors or do u need the stock ones and the wideband?

the stock crank and rods are good to over 450hp. so like i said you do not need to upgrade them. you would be looking at $1000 for a set of aftermarket rods and the same for an aftermarket crank if not more.
keep the boost low, you might not need to change the rods or crank but ive seen a few cars that were good for such and such hp with a thrown rod, bearings are also something that have gone bad.
