Im having a problem with my 01 sebring lxi coupe, 3.0.
I had to replace the front trans mount a few months back. Now I just ordered the passenger side motor mount. Any idea why these things keep going on me? Somebody had suggested that the trans was out of alignment from the trans shop, but that was a few months back. I happen to know they replaced one mount a few months back as well. That was around 95k, it now has 115.
You are using a name brand mount correct? also, i would definitely have a transmission shop check and see if something is loose/misaligned. If it's moving around, then that would definitely be a bad thing.
i would check all four mounts. does ur engine shake at all? it shouldnt if it does then it's definitely. u may have some form of oil being spilled on the mounts, so if u have a leak, then u might wanna have it checked out, oil eats rubber.
ANY petroleum product eats the rubber on the mounts. If someone is putting a lubricant on the mounts [don't know why but you never know], more than likely, it's eating the mounts away. Take it to a reputable transmission shop [Just ask your local Advance Auto or NAPA who their best transmission commercial account is. Do NOT go to Autozone. As per company policy, they WILL only give you the name of which one buys the most from them. that's not always the proper quality indication] and have them inspect it. Most shops will rarely charge you a diagnostic fee.
Check the motor mounts if the motor mounts are bad they will allow everything to shift and damage the tranny mounts ... Start the car and have some one rev it both in neutral and while in gear and watch for movement if the motor moves you might need new motor mounts
Thanks guys. The trans was done at a Lee Myles my shop deals with at work. They had a problem though so the trans was removed twice as I recall. I know the front roll stopped was bad, and I did no notice it until I had the car up on a lift, so Im HOPING That one mount took out another mount etc. Because of the way this mount broke, I could definetly see the other one taking it out.
And Yes, it is an OEM Part. MN101072 from Chrysler. 132$ my cost.
Jim, do you by chance live in bowling green ky? That is where i'm from. There is a lee myles transmission shop on the bypass. It just may be another one, but i bet you live here.
