I have been told there is one for the idiot light, and one for the guage. I need to know where the one for the guage is. The engine was changed in this car and I think it may not have one. It is the same size engine that came out. I can't even find the wire for it. I'm starting to think that maybe the instrument cluster has been changed too. It might not even have the wire. I found the one for the idiot light. That one works fine. I am thinking that maybe it is suppose to have a T where the sender for the idiot light is and is suppose to go into that. In that case no big deal, but where is the wire? I may have to run the wire to the cluster and the sending unit. I would need a wiring diagram for that though. Any thoughs on this or help on locating the one that may not even be there or the wire. would be greatly appriciated. Thanks All
As far as I know, they're both the same unit. And it's located on the back of the engine (firewall side) on the side closet to the timing belt. There's the crank sensor above the oil filter and then there's the Oil Pressure Sensor above that.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP
they are one in the same. the only time there would be a t involved is if ther is a aftermarket guage ran for either oil temp, or oil pressure. are you having a problem with you're guage not reading properly or is the idiot light on. write back and gives more info pugsley
The guage is not working at all and stays on the bottom. The idiot light works fine. I had an auto parts store tell me that there are 2 sending units listed for this vehicle. One is for the idiot light, and one is for the guage.
all right i check autozones webstite there is 2 units listed 1 is a 1 prong and the other is a 2 prong. the 1 prong is for cars that do not have a oil pressure guage and the 2 prong is the one for cars with light and guage. is you're light on and the guage showing no pressure?
NO, just the oposite. My light goes off when running, and the guage reads no pressure. I only have one wire to the sending unit. I am thinking maybe when they swapped the engine out, they used the wiring harness from the new engine, which only had the light. I could use a wiring harness now to find out for sure. I went to the wrecking yard and got a sending unit off of a 95 2.0 eclipse with a guage in it and it only had one wire to it. I think I need to see a wiring diagram. I will be looking for that now. lol thanks guys. I'm still working on this.
There's a sending unit behind the starter on my '96 engine. Well I say behind the starter, but actually it's on the backside of the engine, close to the bellhousing, in the middle of the block. Since my engine is in a Charger w/ the original trans I have to remove this sensor and plug the hole to fit my starter. On the Avenger the starter is at the front, so you should have no problem be able to look in and see it, maybe even change it from up top.
