stupid 3.0 swap question
« on: November 27, 2007, 12:31:08 AM »

from a long time lurker newbie.  I have a 98 es.

-Does the valve cover swap from a 2.5 to a 3.0?   In other words, after I swap motors I want to try and make the 3.0 look as much like a 2.5 as possible from a couple feet away.  I dont have a 3.0 yet to compare it too. Any other glaring differences that would totally give it away VISUALLY? Hey I warned you that it was stupid, but thanks in advance!!!

no question is dumb, thats actually a pretty good one since if i DO keep this car long enough im swapping to the 3.0 and i wouldnt mind making it look like the 2.5. so its a good thing to know

Thank you for your fast replies.  So outside of a dodge tech glancing it over, what if any would give away the fact that the car has a 3.0 in it then? Anything else?? Thanks again. This is a great forum.

I am planning a track car build. My minumum weight (and other things)would be determined by my engines displacement. "Bending the rules" is a good term for what I am trying to do.  I am eyeing a set of those headers too if the group buy lasts past Xmas.  I am not a dodge guy at all, but I know cars(mostly foreign, just not Mitsubishi) There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people on board here which is good. It does seem like a strightforward kinda swap, but Disturbing Motorsports being only a coupe hours south of me, will at least be getting a call while I figure out how I plan to handle this project over the next 6-8 weeks. Might be easier to have them handle the engine end of it. Dunno yet.

sleeper and if i get a smart buyer i dont want to answer questions about why i put a new engine in or how the work is, i mean he may know just from the feel of the engine but i doubt it so it would be less hassles to keep it lookin normal.
