cool i thought the head carried the displacement diff. I know its a tight fit back there  i have a obx intake on my 420a there is bearly enough room for the vacume lines on the back of the intake. the intake plenium is huge and with the runners it has to push it 6-8 in past the head. I figured if i could get that massive intake back there i wouldn't have a prob getting a header back there. when you swapped the head. you used the 2.o head and cams and the 2.4 lifters valves and springs?

don't buy the moroso pan there no place for a downpipe crossing under the pan and we need it that's a neon only part and on top of that the 2.4 doesn't share the same pan as the 2.0 there's no way to fit a 2.0 pan on a 2.4

I used a complete 2.0 head the 2.4 I bought was a short block with no head
and only a recent head 2.4 will have the good parts called the pt cruiser style rockers and lifters
an old one from 2000 and earlier will have the exact same parts as your 2.0

I.m pulling the engine this winter and rebuilding a few things including putting modified aem cam gears and crower 2/3 cams

a neon has 10 inch of clearance between the engine and the firewall, a cloud car has even more
both of them has huge exhaust tunnel while we have none
and if i remember correcly we have like 6 inch of clearance

you can't use 2.4 cams or neon cams

you need a COMPLETE 420a head
but you could cheat on the valve cover if you are creative and handy

You need a complete 420A head from an Avenger/Eclipse/Sebring/etc, not a Neon 420A head.

technically speaking neon don't have 420a !
they have the D4RE (dual 4 rear exhaust) or S4RE (single 4 rear exhaust) engines
don't tell any serious neon tuners that he owns a 420a

yupe the bitch is back !

Me either, good info. I've never seen anyone call them that though, even on the Neon forum, and since the OP here doesn't seem to know much about them, I was just trying to clarify for him that he can't use a Neon head.

i am the op and never even said anything about a neon head maybe you should read the thread again i was asking alian about the specifics of my 420 head going on my 2.4 motor . the only reason the word neon is in this post is because the pic of the oil pan i posted was for a neon
As far as not knowing about neons unfortunitly i do i have owend 4 of them so i def know the dif between the neon 420a and the avenger 420a but thanks for clearing it up for me
I hope i havent offended any neon owners with the 420a but thats what it is weather you like it or not Grin

if you have a 1997 engine chances are you have a nice steel pan bolted to it
the best pan to modify without spending big $
