Silly Engine Question
« on: October 31, 2007, 06:24:22 PM »

So I know that ours motors come from the 6G7 series, I know that 73 motor, and the 72 motor is a direct bolt up from the eclipse... But why cant we use the 74 motors? I know the 75 motors come from the new ecplipses and those just appear to be plain out too big....
But yea why cant we at least use the other motors.... I was just wondering

That's a good question I've been wondering that for awhile now too. Another one it why the auto hooks up to the 2.0 and the 2.5 but the 5spd doesn't hook up to the 2.5... Weird, prolly just the crank trigger...

Oh and we can use the 6g74, just takes a lot of work... I'd do that over the 3.0 just cuz the 3.5 has more torque... Just costs more...

Seriously, I prefer torque over hp... Now if headers can be used on the 3.5, I'll do that hands down Grin

Remember awhile back when Alain was still here? They were in the process of doing [over at ASEC] a 5spd swap and the trigger was one of the issues.

I think basically it's all about the crank trigger and switching the clutches...

Just the one we have now, the I4, the 3.0, and the 3.5... I wonder if it's possible to use an older 3.0, like from the early 90's... Much more potential there. Cheesy

Roll Eyes Here we go again ... The older 3.0 is not a direct bolt in , the tranny is totally different ... If you have really really deep pockets and a good technical background you might be able to transplant and rewire the entire car ...
