Hey, I am new to the forum and have a couple of questions. I bought a 98 avenger sport to use as a commuter car. It was a one owner car (the local dodge dealers wife) so it has been maintained by the dealership until now (has 101,500 mi). I take care of my vehicles well I think, but I am not sure of the long run dependability of these cars because I am not familiar with Dodges. It has the 2.5 V6 and an auto. Roughly how many miles do these cars get on them before large cost problems start to happen. I know that most depends on your care of the vehicle, but in general I wanted to know what kind of life expectancy I could expect before the repairs are worth more than the car. The PO replaced the headlight assembly and the clear headlight covers are brand new. The only thing I have done to it is replace the front brake pads. Thank You for any advice and answers.
The weakest links are the timing belt, zero clearance motor can bend valves/destroy pistons ect ... Tranny is the number two link they seem to go and it's huge dollars to rebuild ... There is one car I know of that over 375,000
I wish I could tell you man... If I told you from my expierances my car started messing up around 90,000 miles and I got the car with 87,500 miles on it... But I think the previous owner didnt keep it maintained for S***.... But thats just my car
