Hey guys, new to the forum cuz I've got a problem: I have an 01 coupe LXi with the 3.0 v6 automatic. Since I got the car a year ago I ocassionally experienced a situation where I come to a stop and the idle is rough and almost stalls. After driving a few minutes this would go away and wouldn't happen for a month or so. Well, today I had a dead battery (no lights left on or anything). I jumped it and the car ran fine with my foot on the gas, but died as soon as I took it off and the engine dropped to idle. I replaced the battery (autozone tested it and said its dead) and same thing. Car starts fine then immediatly, but rpms drop and car dies within 1/2 second. If I start the car and hold the gas a hair I can shift into drive and the car runs perfectly, but I have to slip it into neutral at every stop and give it just a hint of gas or it dies every time.
Check the nut that holds the cables to the posotive Terminal on the Battery.. Then check your Alternator.. Oh.. and do you have a loud thumpity thump thump sound system
Darktengu wins the prize! I just went back out to take another crack at it after pouring a beer and crusing the internet and decided to pull the IAC valve. It was pretty gummed up. I cleaned it with a little carb cleaner on a rag and now I'm back up and running! The fact that it stuck at the same time as the battery dying must have been a coincidence (sp?). Anyway, I'm happy now!
