Disturbing Motorsports' First 3.0 Swap!
« on: October 02, 2007, 03:12:29 AM »

I have been planning this swap for the longest time and through the HUGE help of Disturbing Motorsports it finally came to life.  I drove up to Pennsylvania and dropped the car off with them on 9/28 and picked her back up on 9/30, the car would have been running the evening of 9/29 had I not forgot to take the fuel injectors on the trip up d'oh.  The new engine has 29k miles compared to my old 2.5 at 110k miles.  They also installed a new timing belt, waterpump, polyurethane motor mounts and timing tensioner.  Well we got back yesterday with the car. Let me tell y'all, HOLY HELL. A 3.0 on the interstate is so much fun compared to the rinky dink 2.5, I was loving every minute of it. The thing has oodles of Torque, I LOVE IT. That and the sound it makes it pretty freaking amazing also. It took a couple tries for the car to pressurize fuel and start, during which time my heart like stopped lol. Shortly after it started Jim had her out running to test her out make sure all was good and I was on my way home. For those of you thinking of doing the swap, this may be different for you, but my 2.5 was getting 18-19MPG the entire highway trip home I got about 26-27 MPG, just another benefit of doing a 3.0 swap  Wink I also got polyurethane motor mounts installed at the time of the swap, unfortunately they broke apart on the trip home due to bad polyurethane, and Jim is already working on getting me a replacement set.Thank you Jim, Beth, Scott and Jeremy, I know I bugged the piss out of y'all trying to get everything squared away and set. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend using Disturbing Motorsports for swaps, parts and any labor in general, they did an awesome job and they were all great. thanks again guys, I love it. They would have had it done in less than a weekend had I not forgotten my fuel injectors lol. I snapped a few pictures, Beth has more, I'll try and get her to post em later.

Old 2.5

New 3.0

Like I said I would HIGHLY recommend using Disturbing Motorsports, they were awesome, they made me feel safe leaving my car with them, they had the swap done in no time, Jim even helped me locate the engine and best of all they're a great bunch.

As being a former 6g73 owner, let me be the first to congratulate you. ........ YAY!. lol

I'd say there was some carbon buildup on the 2.5. From the top of Georgia, all the way to savannah, i got about 27mpg. All i had was a mid-ram intake. lol

But it's good that you had a smooth experience.

You'll have to call them or PM them on ASEC or on here.  PM either Disturbingavenger or ImtheMylf and they'll help get you pricing and parts and such all sorted out, tell em Eric sent you their way.

Mylf on ASEC --> http://aseclub.net/forums/View-Member-Profile-m2297.html
Sorry I couldn't find them on here, but like I said if you don't have ASEC sign up quick or just give their biz phone a ring, if they don't pick up, leave a message that you're curious about pricing they're pretty good about returning phone calls.

Things change a lot.  I would talk to Jim or Beth about it.  Eric's engine was kinda the last minute thing.
