Help!! Amp Problem (Bad Venge)
« on: September 13, 2007, 02:58:45 PM »

Got in the car coming home from work this morning & turned my radio up to about 11 or 12 which is a normal level & my speakers shut off.  Confunded, i check out the situation & both fuses on my amp are blown.  No Problem right?  Wrong!  I replaced the fuses, turned it back on & it made a buzzing sound, sparked & popped & blew the fuses again.  I never had a problem with this before & my subwoofer amp is still going strong.  Is the amp bad or a wire short somewhere?  Any ideas?  The Amp is a Profile Clarus CL640.

likely the amp is toasted ... you can try disconnecting the speakers and replace the fuses again, but it's likely to blow...
I'd bet the power supply self destructed

I'd check the wires before you do anything with the amp.

you never know. Might be the problem.

well, i already have a new amp on order & i am gonna replace the power wire from the battery.  This line didn't have an inline fuse by the battery which probably caused my problem in the first place so what size fuse should I put next to the battery?  I'm gonna be powering a 80w x 4 Amp.

not sure but ive seen bad grounds cause a buzzing noise and blow fuses before....step dad had a bad ground and it caused a horrible buzzing noise  it was due to moisture between the contact.
