Door problems
« on: December 15, 2005, 08:14:33 AM »

Ok, so almost 2 years ago the unavoidable happened and my door handle broke. This summer I got a new handle and I started trying to install it but I didn't get done b4 i had to go to work so I left my car at home and my dad finished. I don't know what he did but handle only worked for about three days and it didn't feel right. The handle just doesn't wanna move when you pull on it. I can't afford to replace the whole linkage. I was debating putting a shaved door handle kit on it and just not worry about shaving the handles for now. I just need some opinions.

re-do it yourself. Sounds like the linkage is twisted up alittle, might not have the clips all the way on the linkage rods and it is slipping out. It's tight (as you know, I'm sure) use a good trouble light to see what your doing, good luck.

me and a buddy looked at it and we're not 100% sure what's wrong with it. we un hooked all the linkages and they were definately clipped together tightly, so that wasn't the problem. dad said that he felt like he was missing something  when he was putting it back together. so he had to rig it with a nut and a bolt, and I think that is where the problem originated. We're gonna pull the other side door panel off and see what it is supposed to look like then we'll go from there.

Yeah i have been really debating shaving them but I would rather spend the money on a downpipe and just have the handle work. If i don't know how to fix it then they will get shaved.
