Someone take me to school on Chrysler Financial, Lease Plus and Finance Plus
« on: September 04, 2007, 08:01:21 PM »

I priced out a Charger at 33ish. A conventional finance option would put me at 350ish/mo with 0 down and trading in my car (est 15,000).

According to the Chrysler Financial calculator, to "Lease Plus" at 0 down, including trade in, my payment would be 12/mo for 24 months (up to about 90/mo for 36 months or so).

According to the Chrysler Financial calculator, to "Finance Plus at 0 down, including trade in, my payment would be 70/mo for 36 months (36 months is the only option).

What I don't understand... how am I supposed to pass up leasing at 12/mo?!? Why does this sound too good? I owe nothing on the car I own now. Am I losing out big time at the end of my lease/finance term? If so, explain. I feel like I'm essentially paying 15k (what I could make selling my current car) to rent a Charger for next to nothing but to have NOTHING to show for in 2 or 3 years.

Thoughts, suggestions, what am I missing, should I do it?

I think I'm missing something.  Or maybe it's just the same thing you're missing?

I say just do the regular financing at 70/month and get the Charger.  For 33 you're talking the R/T right?

Dark: Its called FinancePlus... its just like leasing but you pay a touch more to the principal, it seems. You still have to give the car back or buy it at the end of the term.

just think.. in your quattro you can go fast in a straight and a corner.. handle well in snow rain or dry.. but in the charger... I used to have a 86' 4000 quattro and now i just have a 4000s, I know how well they handle.. it's nice. I've seen how well the charger/300 handles and it's not so good.

it's ultimately your choice. I'd weigh all factors.

Forget the Finance Plus.  Are you looking at just a Lease plan?  What about straight Financing?

Straight up financing would be about 150-200/mo... roughly, depending on 60mo or 72mo. If I did the LeasePlus, I'd get a car for 24 months at 12 bucks a month. BUT, at the end of the 24 months, I'd have to pay a full car payment b/c I wouldn't have a 15k car to put as a down payment. If I did nothing, I'd have zero car payments since its paid off now.

I just wish my car was a touch quicker... more pull (no, no modifications will be added)

no... seeing how the last thing i said was no modifications, lol

another option would be a 2007 A4 Quattro 2.0T... but that'd be even slower than what I have now. It'd be 1000 less than a charger r/t. I'll test drive them both... if for nothing else, it'll be fun.
