Help!!!! Oil leak below intake on # 1
« on: September 01, 2007, 12:54:35 AM »

Last month my timing belt broke and I took it to a shop because I work too much. They replaced the belt, head gasket and 2 valves that were damaged. I noticed after having it back for a few days there was an oil leak. I haven't really had time to check it out till tonight. It seems to be coming from or below the intake pipe on the # 1.  I also noticed that the bottom bolt for that pipe is not all the way in and apparently they also lost the nut on the top stud. The oil coming out is clean, as soon as you put in the oil it starts dripping. Car runs good for having loose bolts on the intake. Obviously I am going to fix the loose bolts but I am having a hard time believing it's coming from that. Is there anything else there?Huh

Take it back to the shop and make them fix it.  Tell them they need to replace all the head bolts.  They are torque to yeild and designed to stretch.  You cannot reuse them.  That sounds like what they did.

exactly. a little info:
Torque to yield bolts are one time use ONLY. It's like your arm. You can only use it to hold exploding dynamite once.
